On this 3 hour historical tour including samples of some of the best craft beers the city has to offer, you will learn of the centuries old brewing tradition of the Hanseatic city of Hamburg, discover lots of different beer styles and what the effects of various brewing processes have on the quality and taste. Prepare yourself for a world of vastly different aromas and flavours like brilliant citrus scents, well rounded bitter aftertastes, intriguing fruity sweetness, or roasted malty essences – and decide which one you like the best!

Our beer tasting will delve you into the broad world of unusual aromas and the extreme variety that craft beer has to offer. Seven wonderful old and new individual beers will be presented in the tasting – an extraordinary array of flavours and never ending possibilities.

You will hear an overview of 1,000 years of Hamburg’s brewing history, find out why Hamburg had the nickname “the brewing house of the Hanseatic League”, learn about the special ingredients and taste why Hamburg’s beer was so superior to other beers in northern Europe. With other beer enthusiasts, receive an overview of the vivid craft beer scene in the city with an ever growing number of micro-breweries, beer styles, and seasonal specialities.

Then we will head into the Sternschanze quarter, home of the craft beer movement here in the city. We will enjoy a particular touch of a typical alternative bar with a friendly and informative staff who are deeply passionate about the creative beer world. Meet close friends of Germany`s craft beer brewing pioneers and long standing enthusiasts of their magnificent creations. With a constantly changing selection and variety, the group´s unique and desired tastes will be complemented and expanded.

To round this one of a kind tour off, we will make our way to an exceptional brewery tap-room or specialized bar. Here we will savor more premium craft beers from tap. You can also buy a few bottles at a more than fair price to take home as a gift or souvenir. In a sociable and pleasent round we will end the tour and you can enjoy the rest of the night out with newly friended craft beer enthusiasts with a pint or two. There are guarantied to be many lasting memories and exciting conversations about the newly won knowledge of Hamburg´s craft beers.
